June 13, 2007: The city of Scottsdale landed their second PGA tour event of the 2007 season when Grayhawk’s Raptor Course was announced as the course for the Fry’s Electronics Open.
A new addition to the tour, the Fry’s Electronics Open will be part of the recently created Fall Series and will be played from Oct. 15th – 21st.
The Fry’s Electronics Open will be a five-day event with the first day scheduled for a Pro-Am event and the four remaining days for the PGA event.
All four rounds of the Fry’s Electronics Open will be televised on the Golf Channel just like all of the Tour’s Fall Series events. The tournament will feature a 132-player field with prizes totaling about $5 million and first place receiving $900,000.
The Fry’s Electronics Open will be hosted by the Thunderbirds who have continued to run a successful tournament with the FBR Open. By partnering with Grayhawk Golf Club, the Thunderbirds and PGA are sure to bring another great event to the region.
The Grayhawk Golf Club is a highly acclaimed 36-hole golf facility located in Northern Scottsdale. The property is home to two award-winning golf courses, the Raptor and Talon.
The Raptor course is the one the Fry’s Electronics Open will be played on for the tournament. Created in 1995, the Raptor course was designed by Tom Fazio and it is considered one of the best in Arizona along side of its sister course, Talon. Playing at 6973 yards, the Raptor is one of the best examples of desert golf and will test the skills of players of all skill levels.
