Welcome to Coldwater Springs Golf Club in Phoenix, Arizona, here we have shaped large features that go well beyond your run-of-the-mill mound or hill. The result is a combination of spectacular elevated tees, deep swales and cascading fairways. Only in North Scottsdale, or some of the Valley's foothill courses, can you find such rolling terrain and dramatic, undulating golf holes. What's more, the setting is framed by mountain views, native grasses, meandering washes, and two placid lakes.
Coldwater Golf Club in Avondale (West Valley) is an affordable and challenging golf course, designed by local architect Forrest Richardson. Dramatic mountain backdrops and desert scenery is featured on this layout which is sculpted along a stretch of the Agua Fria River.
The course is very playable for golfers of all skill levels, and is long enough to draw the interest of top players. Fairways are usually wide with ample landing areas off the tee, but mounds and grass bunkers situated greenside make a good short game necessary to score well.
Coldwater meanders through a residential community, with a good variety of holes, nice conditioning, and good service. It is a local favorite, and is very much ecommended as a value round, for those looking to mix in some reasonably priced courses on an extended Arizona golf trip. |
